Bombardier is expanding its Business Aircraft Service Center Network and plans to hire more than 200 in the U.S. and the UK, the company announced. It is recruiting for a number of positions, ranging from A&P and customer response team technicians to avionics specialists, licensed engineers, mechanics and supervisors.

The network already encompasses 850 dedicated technicians who have completed 45,000 maintenance events. The expansion comes as Bombardier readies a new center at London Biggin Hill and has been increasing its services at facilities such as the one in Wichita.

It is also welcome news for a company that has been working to cut costs as it strengthens its cash position. This has included incremental layoffs throughout the company. In addition, the company's business aviation unit has slowed production rates on the Global lines and shifted and laid off an unspecified number of Learjet workers as it adjusts to market weakness.
